Darcy James Argue, whose own work bridges big band tradition and contemporary compositional ambition, makes for an ideal collaborator here, bringing fresh architecture to the kind of repertoire Salvant has always made her own.

With Every Breath I Take is Cécile McLorin Salvant’s first with orchestra. It features The Netherlands’ Metropole Orkest conducted by Jules Buckley. Salvant and the ensemble perform timeless songs newly arranged by composer and bandleader Darcy James Argue. Salvant, who has performed with orchestras regularly over the last decade-and-a-half and intended to make an album with one sooner in her career, but logistics and her abundant creative ideas led to other new projects intervening. Having finally found time to make this album, With Every Breath I Take is a different sort of record than it might have been even ten years ago.

“It is a rare opportunity to be able to make an album at this scale, which has been a dream of mine for many years,” Salvant says.

Tracklist

Side A

1. With Every Breath I Take (3:44)

2. Sophisticated Lady (3:04)

3. Send In The Clowns (6:48)

Side B

1. Barbara Song (8:13)

2. Left Over (5:04)

Side C

1. Ever Since The One I Love's Been Gone (3:14)

2. Les Parapluies De Cherbourg (5:17)

3. I'll See You Again (3:29)

Side D

1. Being Alive (6:21)

2. Lush Life (5:52)

UPC: 075597896138
Label: Nonesuch
Release Date: 6.26.26
Format: LP Vinyl

Details

Label: Nonesuch (075597896138) · Released: 2026 · Country: Worldwide

Tracklist

A1 With Every Breath I Take – 3:44

A2 Sophisticated Lady – 3:04

A3 Send In The Clowns – 6:48

B1 Barbara Song – 8:13

B2 Left Over – 5:04

C1 Ever Since The One I Love's Been Gone – 3:14

C2 Les Parapluies De Cherbourg – 5:17

C3 I'll See You Again – 3:29

D1 Being Alive – 6:21

D2 Lush Life – 5:52

Credits

Darcy James Argue – Arranged By, Producer, Editor

David Wong – Bass

Jules Buckley – Conductor

Cécile McLorin Salvant – Creative Director

Ben Wilkerson Tousley – Design

Kush Abadey – Drums

Dirk Overeem – Engineer

Todd Whitelock – Engineer

Chris Gold (5) – Engineer (Additional Engineering), Editor, Mastered By

Tom Korkidis – Executive-Producer

Sidney Meyer – Lacquer Cut By

Mark Wilder – Mastered By

Metropole Orchestra – Orchestra

Kate Sterlin – Photography By

Sullivan Fortner – Piano, Celesta

Cécile McLorin Salvant – Producer

Todd Whitelock – Recorded By, Mixed By

https://reserveselects.myshopify.com/products/cecile-mclorin-salvant-with-every-breath-i-take-2-lp-vinyl
