Johnson forward, and Cohen carries that weight not as a scholar but as a genuine inheritor.

Limited colored vinyl LP pressing. At only 30 years old, pianist Emmet Cohen - the winner of the American Pianists Association's 2019 Cole Porter Fellowship - has made a name for himself performing/recording with such jazz masters as Jimmy Cobb, Ron Carter, Benny Golson, Tootie Heath and George Coleman, among others. On his new Mack Avenue album, Future Stride Cohen revisits jazz's earliest forms through a progressive lens with fine support from bassist Russell Hall, drummer Kyle Poole, trumpeter Marquis Hill and saxophonist Melissa Aldana.

UPC: 673203118119
Label: Mack Avenue Records
Release Date: 1.29.21
Format: LP Vinyl

Tracklist

Side A

1. Sympohonic Raps (3:07)

2. Reflections At Dusk (5:11)

3. Toast To Lo (6:41)

4. Future Stride (5:53)

5. Pitter Panther Patter (2:24)

Side B

1. Second Time Around (6:27)

2. Dardenella (5:24)

3. You Already Know (3:30)

4. My Heart Stood Still (4:56)

5. Little Angel (3:37)

Details

Label: Mack Avenue (MAC1181LP) · Released: 2021 · Country: US

Tracklist

A1 Sympohonic Raps – 3:07

A2 Reflections At Dusk – 5:11

A3 Toast To Lo – 6:41

A4 Future Stride – 5:53

A5 Pitter Panther Patter – 2:24

B1 Second Time Around – 6:27

B2 Dardenella – 5:24

B3 You Already Know – 3:30

B4 My Heart Stood Still – 4:56

B5 Little Angel – 3:37

Credits

Russell Hall (5) – Acoustic Bass

Todd Whitelock – Co-producer

Kyle Poole – Drums, Co-producer

Emmet Cohen – Piano, Co-producer

Melissa Aldana – Tenor Saxophone

Marquis Hill – Trumpet
