The album's unflinching critique of Nigeria's military-civilian power structure is Fela at his most politically precise, translating lived trauma into extended Afrobeat grooves that hit harder knowing the personal cost behind them.

Knitting Factory Records reissues Fela Kuti's Army Arrangement on vinyl LP, previously only available as part of the Box Set series. Army Arrangement is about Nigeria's attempt at 'democracy' in 1979 after more than a decade of military rule. The audio has been restored and remastered from Fela's original Nigerian recordings. The artwork has been meticulously recreated from original album artwork.

UPC: 720841205418
Label: Partisan Records
Release Date: 12.13.19
Format: LP Vinyl

Details

Label: Celluloid (CELL 6109) · Released: 1985 · Country: US

Tracklist

A Army Arrangement – 16:40

B1 Cross Examination – 11:52

B2 Government Chicken Boy – 5:48

Credits

Femi Kuti – Alto Saxophone

Patrick Di Meglio – Artwork (Art Work Concept)

Gilles Chagny – Artwork (Picture)

Achampong – Baritone Saxophone (2nd)

Herman Menimade Addo – Bass Guitar

Ola Jagun – Congas

Aiyb Dieng – Drum Machine (Yamaha Rx 11), Percussion (Chatan), Cowbell

Francis Fuster – Drums

Bernie Worrell – Electric Organ (Hammond B3)

Sly Dunbar – Electronic Drums (Simmons Drums)

Oye Shobowale – Flugelhorn

Lekan Animashaun – Leader, Baritone Saxophone

Fosiber – Maracas

Howie Weinberg – Mastered By

Lamtey – Percussion (Sticks)

Dele Sosimi – Piano (Rhythm)

Bill Laswell – Producer

Fela Kuti – Producer

Material – Producer

OAO – Producer

Robert Musso – Recorded By, Mixed By

Chukwudi Aroga – Rhythm Guitar

Keji Ifarunmi – Rhythm Guitar

Fela Kuti – Soprano Saxophone

Aiyb Dieng – Talking Drum

Okalue Ojeah – Tenor Guitar

Oyinade Adeniran – Tenor Saxophone

Akameah – Trumpet (2nd)
