At 79, she wasn't slowing down; she was testifying.

Mavis Staples has been a soul and gospel music legend for more than 50 years. Her work fronting the legendary Staples Singers defined the sound of politically-committed soul and influenced generations of musicians. As a solo artist in her own right, she has helped to define much of what is righteous and soulful in American music. There are few people who can claim to have been performing as long as Mavis Staples, let alone to her standards. This album captures her live at the Union Chapel in London with her band performing some of the greatest songs from her musical catalog, while celebrating her 79th birthday.

Tracklist

Side A

1. Love And Trust (4:38)

2. Who Told You That (3:13)

3. Slippery People (3:51)

4. What You Gonna Do Intro (0:36)

5. What You Gonna Do (4:05)

Side B

1. Take Us Back (4:39)

2. You're Not Alone (4:19)

3. No Time For Cryin' (5:21)

4. Can You Get To That (3:18)

Side C

1. Let's Do It Again (5:47)

2. Dedicated (4:46)

3. We're Gonna Make It (4:23)

4. Encore: Happy Birthday (1:00)

5. Touch A Hand (6:33)

UPC: 045778765218
Label: Anti
Release Date: 2.8.19
Format: LP Vinyl

Details

Label: Anti- (87652-1) · Released: 2019 · Country: US

Tracklist

A1 Love And Trust – 4:38

A2 Who Told You That – 3:13

A3 Slippery People – 3:51

A4 What You Gonna Do Intro – 0:36

A5 What You Gonna Do – 4:05

B1 Take Us Back – 4:39

B2 You're Not Alone – 4:19

B3 No Time For Cryin' – 5:21

B4 Can You Get To That – 3:18

C1 Let's Do It Again – 5:47

C2 Dedicated – 4:46

C3 We're Gonna Make It – 4:23

C4 Encore: Happy Birthday – 1:00

C5 Touch A Hand – 6:33

Credits

Donny Gerrard – Backing Vocals

Vicki Randle – Backing Vocals

Jeff Turmes – Bass, Backing Vocals

Paradigm Talent Agency – Booking

Sheila Sachs – Design

Stephen Hodges – Drums

Rick Holmstrom – Guitar, Backing Vocals

David Cheppa – Lacquer Cut By

Provosty And Gankendorff, LLC – Legal

Patriot Management – Management

Mark Chalecki – Mastered By

Rob Schnapf – Mixed By, Edited By

Rick Holmstrom – Music Director

Mavis Staples – Producer

Paul Hurt – Recorded By (Live Sound Recorded By)

Mavis Staples – Vocals
