The Meat Puppets' Curt and Cris Kirkwood even joined the band onstage, one of the night's quietly historic moments. Spinning this on vinyl only deepens the intimacy of a set that was already uncomfortably close to the bone.

Vinyl LP pressing of this live release from the Grunge heroes. Recorded in November 1993, less than six months before singer Kurt Cobain killed himself, Nirvana's MTV Unplugged is a watershed document that presents a band at the peak of its powers. Unlike any other unplugged affair, the diverse album is not a simple stripped-down regurgitation of greatest hits or a cash-it-in set of nostalgic favorites. Rather, the live effort is among the most emotionally naked spectacles ever released an album so starkly intense and profoundly personal, it's impossible not to get chills down the spine. The set list is as surprising as the stylistic makeover. Save for renditions of 'All Apologies' and 'Come As You Are', the adventurous material includes brooding covers of the Meat Puppets' 'Lake of Fire', 'Plateau', and 'Oh Me' as well as harrowing versions of David Bowie's 'The Man Who Sold the World', and the Vaselines' 'Jesus Don't Want Me for a Sunbeam'.

Tracklist

Side A

1. About A Girl (3:37)

2. Come As You Are (4:14)

3. Jesus Doesn't Want Me For A Sunbeam (4:37)

4. The Man Who Sold The World (4:20)

5. Pennyroyal Tea (3:40)

6. Dumb (2:52)

7. Polly (3:16)

Side B

1. On A Plain (3:44)

2. Something In The Way (4:01)

3. Plateau (3:38)

4. Oh Me (3:26)

5. Lake Of Fire (2:55)

6. All Apologies (4:23)

7. Where Did You Sleep Last Night (5:07)

UPC: 720642472712
Label: Geffen Records
Release Date: 9.3.13
Format: LP Vinyl

Details

Label: Geffen Records (0720642472712) · Released: 2017 · Country: Europe

Tracklist

A1 About A Girl – 3:37

A2 Come As You Are – 4:14

A3 Jesus Doesn't Want Me For A Sunbeam – 4:37

A4 The Man Who Sold The World – 4:20

A5 Pennyroyal Tea – 3:40

A6 Dumb – 2:52

A7 Polly – 3:16

B1 On A Plain – 3:44

B2 Something In The Way – 4:01

B3 Plateau – 3:38

B4 Oh Me – 3:26

B5 Lake Of Fire – 2:55

B6 All Apologies – 4:23

B7 Where Did You Sleep Last Night – 5:07

Credits

Mark Kates – A&R

Robert Fisher (4) – Art Direction, Design

Cris Kirkwood – Backing Vocals (Back-up Vocals)

Cris Kirkwood – Bass

Dave Grohl – Bass

Krist Novoselic – Bass

Lori Goldston – Cello

Dave Grohl – Drums, Vocals

Joel Stillerman – Executive-Producer (MTV)

Beth McCarthy – Film Director (MTV, Directed By)

Alex Coletti – Film Producer (MTV)

Curt Kirkwood – Guitar

Krist Novoselic – Guitar

Pat Smear – Guitar

Kurt Cobain – Guitar, Vocals

April Golden – Lacquer Cut By

Gold Mountain Entertainment – Management

Stephen Marcussen – Mastered By

Frank Micelotta – Photography By

Jennifer Youngblood – Photography By

Nirvana – Producer

Scott Litt – Producer

Kurt Cobain – Songwriter
