The way he inhabits a song, whether claiming Sam Cooke's catalog or rewriting what a Rolling Stones track could feel like, remains a clinic in emotional conviction that soul singers have been studying ever since.

Vinyl LP pressing. By 1965, Otis Redding was already a force to be reckoned with, well on his way to earning his King of Soulr title. Then, he released this collection, which is absolutely foundational to any soul vinyl collection. This album includes Otis' soul-searing lament "I've Been Loving You Too Long (To Stop Now)," a cover of The Rolling Stone's "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" that is wholly original, the world's introduction to "Respect" before Aretha made it her own, and Otis' perfect versions of "My Girl," "Wonderful World," and "A Change Is Gonna Come", standards like "Rock Me Baby" and spirituals like "Down in the Valley."

Tracklist

Ole Man Trouble

Respect

Change Gonna Come

Down in the Valley

I've Been Loving You Too Long

Shake

My Girl

Wonderful World

Rock Me Baby

(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction

You Don't Miss Your Water

UPC: 603497837502
Label: Atlantic
Release Date: 2.3.23
Format: LP Vinyl

Details

Label: ATCO Records (8122797160) · Released: 2012 · Country: Europe

Tracklist

A1 Ole Man Trouble – 2:35

A2 Respect – 2:03

A3 Change Gonna Come – 4:13

A4 Down In The Valley – 2:55

A5 I've Been Loving You Too Long – 2:53

B1 Shake – 2:38

B2 My Girl – 2:53

B3 Wonderful World – 3:09

B4 Rock Me Baby – 3:22

B5 Satisfaction – 2:43

B6 You Don't Miss Your Water – 2:49

Credits

Haig Adishian – Design (Cover)

Tom Dowd – Engineer (Recording), Recorded By (Recording Engineer)

Chris Bellman – Lacquer Cut By

Bob Rolontz – Liner Notes

Peter Sahula – Photography By (Cover)

Jim Stewart – Supervised By

https://reserveselects.myshopify.com/products/otis-redding-otis-blue-otis-redding-sings-soul-lp-vinyl
