The 1963 sessions captured here sat in the vaults for years, which makes them feel less like an archival curiosity and more like a discovered conversation between two musicians who understood silence as much as sound.

Stan Getz and Bill Evans are about as close as musicians can get in terms of artistry, musical philosophy and technique. These sessions, recorded in 1963 with drummer Elvin Jones and bassists Ron Carter (Side A) and Richard Davis (Side B), perfectly blend their strong individual styles and collaborative sensibilities, with both artists at the peak of their creative powers. Verve Acoustic Sounds Series features transfers from analog tapes and remastered on 180g vinyl in deluxe gatefold packaging.

Tracklist

Side A

1. Night And Day

2. But Beautiful

3. Funkallero

Side B

1. My Heart Stood Still

2. Melinda

3. Grandfather's Waltz

4. Dark Eyes (Incomplete)

UPC: 602458538311
Label: Verve
Release Date: 2.23.24
Format: LP Vinyl

Details

Label: Verve Records (602458538311, V6-8833); UMe (602458538311, V6-8833) · Released: 2024 · Country: Worldwide

Tracklist

A1 Night And Day – 6:45

A2 But Beautiful – 4:40

A3 Funkallero – 6:42

B1 My Heart Stood Still – 7:05

B2 Melinda – 4:00

B3 Grandfather's Waltz – 6:26

B4 Dark Eyes (Incomplete) – 1:03

Credits

Richard Davis (2) – Bass

Ron Carter – Bass

Elvin Jones – Drums

Dennis Sands – Engineer (Mastering Engineer)

Angel Balestier – Engineer (Remix Engineer)

Ryan Smith (2) – Lacquer Cut By

Chad Kassem – Liner Notes (Insert), Supervised By (Reissue Supervisor)

Ryan Smith – Mastered By (Reissue Mastering)

Eric Miller (6) – Mixed By (Remix By), Supervised By (Mastering Supervision By)

Rolf Ambor – Photography By (Bill Evans)

Burt Goldblatt – Photography By (Stan Getz)

Bill Evans – Piano

Creed Taylor – Producer (Produced By)

Harvey Siders – Sleeve Notes

Stan Getz – Tenor Saxophone

https://reserveselects.myshopify.com/products/stan-getz-bill-evans-previously-unreleased-recordings-lp-vinyl
