Originally released in 1975, the album was released the same year that The Rolling Stones had invited The Meters to open for them on their Tour of the Americas. With the album's hit eponymous track along with other classics like "Mardi Gras Mambo" and "They All Ask'd for You," Fire on the Bayou is a fantastic blend of the blues, dance and funk grooves that continues to define the New Orleans music scene and is one of the many examples of why The Meters are considered New Orleans royalty. To celebrate Black Music Month and honor the album's 50th anniversary, this album has been cut from the original tapes by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Mastering and is pressed locally on 180 gram premium-quality vinyl at Fidelity Record Pressing's brand new plant in Oxnard, California as part of the new Rhino Reserve line.

Tracklist

Side A

1. Out In The Country

2. Fire On The Bayou

3. Love Slip Upon Ya

4. Talkin' 'Bout New Orleans

5. They All Ask'd For You

Side B

1. Can You Do Without?

2. Liar

3. You're A Friend Of Mine

4. Middle Of The Road

5. Running Fast

6. Mardi Gras Mambo

UPC: 081227811709
Label: Rhino
Release Date: 6.27.25
Format: LP Vinyl

Details

Label: Reprise Records (MS 2228) · Released: 1975 · Country: US

Tracklist

A1 Out In The Country – 3:33

A2 Fire On The Bayou – 4:05

A3 Love Slip Upon Ya – 4:55

A4 Talkin' 'Bout New Orleans – 3:31

A5 They All Ask'd For You – 4:08

B1 Can You Do Without? – 3:47

B2 Liar – 5:05

B3 You're A Friend Of Mine – 4:06

B4 Middle Of The Road – 7:51

B5 Running Fast – 1:23

B6 Mardi Gras Mambo – 2:36

Credits

The Meters – Arranged By

Wardell Quezergue – Arranged By (Horns)

Rupert Surcouf, Jr. – Art Direction

George Porter, Jr. – Bass

Cyril Neville – Congas

Joseph Modeliste – Drums

Ken Laxton – Engineer

Roberta Grace – Engineer

Marshall E.
