This 1975 recording captures the five-piece at a moment when Cyril Neville's addition had stretched the group's range without softening its pocket, and the San Francisco crowd was hearing a band that had quietly influenced everyone from the Grateful Dead to virtually every rhythm section that followed.

Live At Great American Music Hall, San Francisco' is the classic double live album that The Meters always deserved but have never had until now. Recorded in 1975 when the classic lineup of Art Neville, Leo Nocentelli, George Porter Jr., Joseph "Zigaboo" Modeliste and new arrival Cyril Neville was at the peak of it's powers, the live set draws heavily on the band's then-most recent album 'Rejuvenation' and previews it's successor, 'Fire On The Bayou' - commonly regarded by fans and critics alike as The Meters' two best albums. Yet 'Live At Great American Music Hall, San Francisco' digs in even deeper, extending the jams close to 20 minutes with the band absolutely burning across this nine-song set. Several selections from this show appeared on a mysterious, unauthorized and highly coveted 1981 bootleg LP titled 'The Meters At Rozy's'.

Tracklist

Side A

1. A Minor (Middle Of The Road) (19:17)

Side B

1. Mardi Gras Mambo (1:49)

2. Chicken Strut (5:15)

3. Wildflower (5:55)

Side C

1. Down By The River (7:03)

2. People Say (5:44)

3. Just Kissed My Baby (7:48)

Side D

1. Jock-A-Mo / Brother John (4:08)

2. Hey Pocky A-Way (6:22)

UPC: 780627371102
Label: Sing
Release Date: 10.17.25
Format: LP Vinyl

Details

Label: Sing Records (SNG0007 - 1) · Released: 2025 · Country: Worldwide

Tracklist

A1 A Minor (Middle Of The Road) – 19:17

B1 Mardi Gras Mambo – 1:49

B2 Chicken Strut – 5:15

B3 Wildflower – 5:55

C1 Down By The River – 7:03

C2 People Say – 5:44

C3 Just Kissed My Baby – 7:48

D1 Jock-A-Mo / Brother John – 4:08

D2 Hey Pocky A-Way – 6:22

Credits

Shazmin Hussein – Art Direction, Design

George Porter, Jr. – Bass, Vocals

Cyril Neville – Congas, Lead Vocals

Joseph Modeliste – Drums

Leo Nocentelli – Guitar, Vocals

Art Neville – Keyboards, Lead Vocals

Charles Waring – Liner Notes

Gilles Pétard – Photography By

Jeremy Holiday – Project Manager

https://reserveselects.myshopify.com/products/the-meters-live-at-the-great-american-music-hall-2-lp-vinyl
