Allen spent decades as Fela Kuti's drummer and musical director, and the polyrhythmic language he helped invent in Lagos echoes through every groove here, connecting West African tradition to hip-hop, spoken word, and contemporary jazz.

"I play yours, you play mine. The music never ends." The wisdom of the late, great Afrobeat drummer Tony Allen's words was as deep as his grooves, and his words truly capture the spirit of There is No End. For a man "born into rhythms," the thousands of grooves he recorded, the innumerable more he performed on stages the world over, all make it clear that while this album marks the coda of a legendary career, it will inspire generations more of musicians, artists and fans who hear it. 2 LP.

UPC: 602507345471
Label: Blue Note Records
Release Date: 5.7.21
Format: LP Vinyl

Tracklist

Side A

1. There Is No End

2. Rich Black

3. Coonta Kinte

4. One Inna Million

Side B

1. Stumbling Down

2. Crushed Grapes

3. Gang On Holiday (Em I Go We?)

Side C

1. Mau Mau

2. Très Magnifique

3. Hurt Your Soul

Side D

1. Cosmosis

2. My Own

Details

Label: Blue Note (0734547); Universal Music France (0734547) · Released: 2021 · Country: France

Tracklist

A1 There Is No End – 0:19

A2 Rich Black – 4:19

A3 Coonta Kinte – 3:08

A4 One Inna Million – 3:20

B1 Stumbling Down – 2:31

B2 Crushed Grapes – 3:17

B3 Gang On Holiday (Em I Go We?) – 3:04

C1 Mau Mau – 3:09

C2 Très Magnifique – 3:24

C3 Hurt Your Soul – 2:59

D1 Cosmosis – 4:44

D2 My Own – 3:48

Credits

Marie Pieprzownik – Lacquer Cut By
