(2-LP Vinyl)

Recorded in 1969, just months after Williams had left Miles Davis's quintet, Emergency! captured a drummer at the absolute peak of his powers, channeling the freedom of the second great quintet into something rawer and louder. McLaughlin was still largely unknown outside of London session circles when Williams recruited him, and Young brought a Hammond intensity that pushed the whole session into uncharted territory.

Double 180gm vinyl LP pressing. In what many consider to be the birth of jazz fusion, Emergency!, led by Tony Williams (drums) with bandmates John McLaughlin (guitar) and Larry Young (organ), is a true adventure in the beginning of the jazz-rock blend that would take shape in late 1960's and beyond. From the opening title track, the direction is decisive and commands attention as Williams leads his crew through a mixture of swing, rock and free jazz that cements it's place as one of the most influential albums of the time. The Verve By Request Series 2 LP set features 180-gram vinyl, pressed at Third Man in Detroit.

Tracklist

Side A

1. Emergency (9:35)

2. Beyond Games (8:20)

Side B

1. Where (12:09)

2. Vashkar (4:58)

Side C

1. Via The Spectrum Road (7:50)

2. Spectrum (9:52)

Side D

1. Sangria For Three (13:08)

2. Something Spiritual (5:38)

UPC: 602465694925
Label: Verve
Release Date: 12.6.24
Format: LP Vinyl

Details

Label: Polydor (25-3001) · Released: 1969 · Country: US

Tracklist

A1 Emergency – 9:35

A2 Beyond Games – 8:20

B1 Where – 12:09

B2 Vashkar – 4:58

C1 Via The Spectrum Road – 7:50

C2 Spectrum – 9:52

D1 Sangria For Three – 13:08

D2 Something Spiritual – 5:38

Credits

Elaine Gongora – Design (Cover)

Anthony Williams – Drums

John McLaughlin – Guitar

Ralph J.
